Riding Between the Worlds - Gotta talk about the new Dr. Who episode

Jul. 1st, 2007 07:40 am Gotta talk about the new Dr. Who episode

I just finished watching the new Dr. Who episode.

WOW.

The show truly has gone above and beyond it's former days.  Serious kudos to the writers, effects people, and of course the GLORIOUS actors.  I love what they did with the theme music.

I found myself getting misty when everyone connected to the archangel network and simply thought with pure intent and focus "Doctor".  Heck, I even said it.  That's actually a very magical thing that they did.  Focusing your intent and giving that intent a pure voice bring things around.  The Doctor can hover around me with a blue nimbus ANY day.

I also found it a little hard to believe that the Doctor would cradle the Master in his arms and just *weep* over him.  I guess if you are the last of your kind and the only other one like you is dying, I suppose that's feasible.  Plus - I didn't think that Time Lords could *refuse* to regenerate.

Am sad that Martha left.  He needs another long running companion like Sarah Jane Smith (I think she was the only companion that every had a fan club).  He'll find another companion though.

Captain Jack - the Face of Bo?  (oy vey).

I felt the ending was a bit like Witch Blade, end of season one.  When she was dying - her witch blade self came back and told her she could reverse everything.  But - with the Doctor being a Time Lord - I suppose that makes more sense since the paradox machine was destroyed, it couldn't hold it together anymore.

Just HOW in the world does the Titanic run into and BREAK the edge of the TARDIS?  It BROKE THE EDGE OF THE TARDIS!!!

Now I need to wait until Christmas...

Nice job on the lj cut. Well done.

While I knew there would have to be a rewind of the year, the only thing that saved it from being completely cheesy is that the people on the ship remembered it. It wasn't a memory wipe, which would've annoyed me immensely.

I didn't buy the Doctor weeping over the Master either. The Master has "died" too many times before and then popped back up. But mostly it didn't feel... real. I think that, yes, the Doctor and the Master were good friends at one time, but I think the Doctor realizes that he lost that friend long ago.

But like you said, maybe losing the only other one of your kind adds a different kind of perspective.

*whispers*Martha's not gone for good/*whisper*

I need to go back and rewatch the ep. I did like the fact that it was the power of a single word that ended up being the Master's undoing. But really, more hot!Ten, less Dobby!Ten. Not that I'm shallow or anything.

I loved that Jack was the Face of Boe. Mostly because of the Doctor and Martha's reaction. Which was exactly what was being said by L and I.

Yeah, it seemed to be very forced for me as well. When I was chatting with a friend of mine he was suggesting that perhaps they were brothers. It's feasible, since it has never been said nor denied..

Also - I agree it was good that the people on the ship remembered what happened. Otherwise - I might have a problem with that as well.

My friend AJ and I are so itching for a Who convention....

You know, after that episode - I just wanted to call a safeword too. :-P
